Games of the Year 2021
Updated: Jan 8, 2022

Halo Infinite is Gamer D.A.'s game of 2021, but what about the other games? What was our personal top threes? We cover our favorites and more on our 2021 game of the year podcast. For the quick version check out below!
Josh Lewis: While I wish I could be proclaiming that my game of the year for 2021 be Advent Rising 2, that alas shall never pass. My number three is the Mass Effect Legendary Edition . It is just such an outstanding game series. Halo Infinite while coming out so late in the year and seeming to be missing few things, is as solid as one can make it given the pushed back release date. My number one being Resident Evil 4 VR on the Quest 2. Even though I've played that game on almost every single platform available being placed in VR gave me an entirely new appreciation of that game. And is highly recommended!

1. Resident Evil 4 VR
2. Halo Infinite
3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Forrest Hearn: The fact that my game of the year, Resident evil village, came out so early in the year probably says something about me. Either that I'm blindly devoted to an ancient franchise that refuses to die, not unlike its villains, or that the game really is that solid, despite all its odd quirks, like a classic monster-mash story or a giant giggling baby. Don't know what I mean? Play it and find out.
Getting to play through the Mass Effect Legendary Edition 100% for the first time ever was worth every penny of admission as well. Updated graphics and game play tweaks are nice, but story and characters are where this franchise shines, and they've never shined more brightly.
Also Metroid Dread was there...

Resident Evil Village
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Metroid Dread
Mark Shreve: This year was full of potential. I was actually surprised two of my top three are Microsoft games. Many games that I did not experience this year that I wished I had were Microsoft exclusives. This says quite a bit about the changes they have been doing..
Halo Infinite
Forza Horizon 5
Metroid Dread
Alex Theodorakis: When it comes to making a list of my top three games, that could be as easy task to undertake. But my top three games for the current year, of 2021, that is a harder question. There were only a handful of games that came out this year, and of those, I have only played a couple. I could say resident evil village would be on that list but I never personally played, that would be my number three, I guess. My number two pick, again, I played it but haven't finished it, the mass effect legendary edition. What I have played I thoroughly enjoy but I have not yet finished it. My number one pick is an obvious one, halo infinite. The multiplayer is solid and the best multiplayer experience of all the halo games, in my opinion. The micro transactions leave a semi sour taste in the mouth but the campaign makes up for it with its wide open breath taking scenery, it's movement and how the player gets around, and it's impressive visuals. I would say halo infinite is great for long time halo fans and it's a great place for newcomers to start their love of the halo universe. So there you have it, my top "3" games of the year.
